Does this happen often in brisbane????

It was just another monday morning..
I was working on my assignment while
the sun was on its way to begin the day.

As I was looking into the computer screen , just felt some UFO passing by... And to my surprise,it was a hot air balloon. I went out to the balcony to have a closer look.. I've never seen one before.

This went past my head and I thought this was
the only one.Meanwhile, another
balloon was rising up the sky..

As this one came closer, I didn't want to miss the chance of showing you people some of the images which I loved clicking.

By now, I was quite excited and woke my roomies up.. and sms'd friends two streets away from us to check out these things.. Seemed very childish..

Infact, I was peeping out of the balcony to find
more of these flying objects. As I didnt find any, thought that it was the last. Then I heard a gush of hot air being blown, the last balloon. up.up and up.. This was colorful and familiar too . This balloon sported REMAX on it. I know remax.. I went searching for homes. And remax was one of the real estate agents whom we contacted.

Was an entertaining morning.. but I still wonder whether these balloons were for advertising or for public amusement.

Brisbane Festival 09

I am very eager and expecting to be a part of the brisbane festival 09. Brisbane's night of nights returns, bigger and even better, to signal the opening of the largest festival the city has ever seen.

QBE Riverfire promises to be a pyrotechnic and musical extravaganza, bringing the city's skies, buildings, bridges, riverbanks and backyards to life as Brisbane Festival 2009's Opening Night festivities unite hundreds of thousands of people in celebration.

The party will burst into life well before the sun goes down and the roar of the F-111 strike jets signals the start of the spectacular fireworks display.

From 5pm the Roulettes will take to the skies and Channel Seven will go to air LIVE with Queensland Weekender's "Brisbane Festival Special" from 5.30pm - all building up to the moment when all eyes are raised to the sky and faces feel the heat as the F-111s sweep low to perform the 'dump and burn' and a million feet can't help but tap along to Triple M 104.5FM's pumping soundtrack.

South Bank is a popular place for families to watch QBE Riverfire. Land based vantage points include Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Victoria Bridge, City Riverwalk (including Riverside Centre and Eagle Street Pier), Captain Burke Park and Wilson's Lookout.

Brisbane Blues - 1.Take off and Landing

Ok whats this now??
I have finally reached here. Here in Brisbane. Its been a month and a fortnight since I landed.
So technically it took me this long to get settled, but in real - I still haven't.

I'm gonna give you a quick recap of all that happened from the moment I said bid adieu to my hometown

So here goes....

11th July 09 8:30 PM IST (+0530GMT)

Its pretty strange when you leave your home, knowing that its going to be quite long time untill you return, leaving family, friends, simba - my li'l doggy, herbie-my car-she's been with me in all my endeavours.. Senses become numb..
I didnt feel strange about moving to a different place.. It all happened in a hurry .. infact no time to feel strange about the fact that am gonna be missing my family. And to top it all, Indians being attacked in Aussie was so much hyped in the media. Poor doggy didnt know that he'll not get to lick my face every morning. The image is frozen in my memories - unfortunate instance of unusual tears rolling down nitin's cheeks.. Never missed him before.. So did he..

Moving on to the check-in and boarding - accompanying me Sush & Danny - nothing great happened until landing..Except for sridar's last minute gift - the swiss knife - which I had in the hand luggage being X-rayed at bangkok. And I had to lose it to the trash reluctantly.

12th July 09 1:08 AM EST (+1000 GMT)

I was the last to clear the customs.Still wondering how I got through customs with all the pickles and papads and chilli powder...But there I was...I had made it. I came out looking for these guys and found them with the guy from the Uni pickup service who had come to receive us.Cold...cold....cold...I arrive in Brisbane and get out into a biting cold night. Its about 11 deg celsius. An inviting cold blast of air too sarcastic to mean that its not a warm welcome. And so- as I got into the station wagon...my new journey begins...

As we get out in Gailey road, we find the keys to our room in a mailbox just out side the motel - "St. Lucia Gardens".....All instructed beforehand through email. But still it was so weird to do this in the middle of the night on the deserted road. As I entered the room,I found neatly made beds and something to eat in the fridge. Then I called up home to say that, I have reached..and then I hit the sack..
